Annual Camp

Summer camp is the Hoosier Burn Camp annual tradition that takes place at Camp Tecumseh. It’s a place where young burn survivors ages 8-18 can be just one of the kids.

Our volunteer staff, made up of adult burn survivors, fire service professionals, medical professionals, and others, helps campers reach their highest potential through activities that encourage perseverance, confidence, courage, and independence.

The Hoosier Burn Camp annual tradition at Camp Tecumseh, our week-long, resident summer camp is a life-enriching experience for young burn survivors. Through the generosity of our donors, camp is provided at no cost to the kids and their families.

Camp is open to young people ages 8 to 18 who have experienced serious burn injury or have been treated for burn injury requiring hospitalization in the state of Indiana.

Camp programs help burn survivors build self-esteem and realize their highest potential while they learn to deal with the obvious physical scars and the less visible psychological trauma they often suffer as a result of burn-related injuries.

Campers participate in traditional and more unique camp activities, like glass blowing, basket weaving, guitar lessons and outdoor sports, which are designed to build confidence, develop courage and build on each camper’s personal strengths.

Volunteers from throughout the country have joined together to develop positive relationships with young people and inspire them to reach their highest potential. We provide two camper to one staff member ratio and our staff works to create an environment of mutual acceptance and respect so campers feel safe and supported.

Parents and summer campers can find more information about the camp below.
